Chuck Ingels

Chuck Ingels has been the UC Cooperative Extension Farm Advisor for Sacramento County since 1996, previously working as a tree and vine analyst at the statewide UC Sustainable Agriculture Research and Education Program in Davis.

He specializes in tree crops, grapes and strawberries, horticulture, and Master Gardeners/urban horticulture.  His areas of research include Integrated Pest Management, evaluation of sustainable products and practices, water conservation and deficit irrigation, home orchards and vineyards, and tree training, pruning, and grafting.

Ed Laivo
Ed Laivo has over 30 years of extensive and varied experience in plant production, marketing and management at both the wholesale and retail levels. His areas of specialty include general ornamentals and perennials, as well as shade, flowering and fruit trees. His system of strategies and techniques called "Backyard Orchard Culture" allow more kinds of fruit to be planted in a small space, with tree size controlled by summer pruning.

In addition to his busy schedule as Dave Wilson’s Wholesale Marketing Manager, Mr. Laivo does frequent guest appearances on the popular HGTV show Gardening by the Yard hosted by Paul James. He has also appeared on DIY network’s The Dirt On Gardening with Kristine Hansen, and contributes articles about home fruit growing regularly to Garden Compass magazine.
